Can anyone help with a Ragdoll Kitten who doesn't like to be held?

I am a 1st time ragdoll owner. I just purchased a 9 month old Blue Bi-color boy from a small TICA approved cattery. I need advise regarding Louie's, my ragdoll, behavior. I purchased a ragdoll because of their social and floppy qualities and as a buddy for my 1 year old Orange and White rescue cat, Harry. The breeder had warned me that older cats transitions take longer. I have now had Louie for 2 months. He has made great strides and is best pals with Harry. He greets me at the door, waits for pets, and follows me around the house; all typical ragdoll behavior. However, he is very nervous around new people, fights me if I pick him up and hold him for more than 30 seconds, and only cuddles with me if I'm asleep...sometimes. I realize that he is in his teenage years and am wondering if this may be a phase that he is going through?! Has anyone else had a similar experience or has any tips on making him feel more comfortable being held and cuddled? Thank you for your advice!
