Tae Kwon Do or Karate?

See there's this enrichment program at school and my curiosity was kinda piqued by the Tae Kwon Do and Karate lessons so I was wondering if I should enroll and if I will what should I choose? I'm also having second thoughts since I'm kinda afraid of the sparring... And also since I'm already 13 I was wondering if it is too late to learn. I'm a girl btw xD
